The country's name "Armenia" is a creation of the second half of the 6th century BC and means ‘the land where the people of Aram have settled. The first to mention this country's name are thought to be the Aramaeans as Arminaia, but there is no written record to confirm this. However, the chancellery scribes of the Achaemenid kings of Persia were Aramaeans and it may well be that the Persians adopted the country name Arminaia writing it as Armina.
