Tropical Storm Hermine (also known as Tropical Depression Eleven-E in the Eastern Pacific), was a rare basin-crossing tropical cyclone that caused widespread damage from Guatemala to Oklahoma in early September 2010. The system was first classified as Tropical Depression Eleven-E on September 3 in the Gulf of Tehuantepec. Failing to intensify, the depression tracked northwestward, moving inland near Salina Cruz, Mexico before weakening to a low pressure system. However, early on September 5, the system moved back over water, entering the Gulf of Mexico, and restrengthened. Later that day it was reclassified as Atlantic Tropical Depression Ten. By September 6, the system intensified into a tropical storm, earning the name Hermine, and quickly intensified as it approached the northern Mexican gulf coast.
