Introduced in the soap's debut episode, Gwen is portrayed by both Liza Huber (July 5, 1999 to November 8, 2000, then October 16, 2002 to August 7, 2008) and Natalie Zea (November 15, 2000 to October 3, 2002). Gwen, a businesswoman and socialite, is a member of the wealthy Hotchkiss family and has dated attorney and Crane heir Ethan Crane for thirteen years when he ends their relationship the night before their wedding in 2000 in order to marry Gwen's friend and the Crane family housekeeper's daughter, Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald.
