The contestants compete with each other to create the best clothes and have them purchased by a buyer from one of three stores: Macy's, Saks Fifth Avenue, and H&M. Each week they are restricted in time, materials and theme. Any designer whose clothes are not purchased that week is up for elimination from the show. Their designs are judged by the celebrity mentors who will save one unsold contestant each week. Then the three buyers choose which of the remaining unsold designers is sent home.
