High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Kano trovafloxacin trial litigation relates to a 1996 incident when the pharmaceutical company Pfizer conducted tests of trovafloxacin (a quinolone antibiotic) in Nigeria on 100 children, five of whom died, with many others suffering blindness, deafness, and cognitive damage, life-altering injuries characteristic of meningitis. All of the children treated with the drug were already severely ill with meningitis. Pfizer also deliberately reduced the dosage for 100 children with the standard anti-meningitis drug ceftriaxone (a cephalosporin antibiotic). Six of those 100 children died. The lead investigator was Dr. Abdulhamid Isa Dutse. Dr. Dutse falsified the letter for research ethics approval.
