The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum was established in 1997. Since 2006 SPIEF is held under the patronage of the President of the Russian Federation. The Organising Committee of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is chaired by the Minister for Economic Development of the Russian Federation, with input on the programme and activities coming from a community of major international and Russian business leaders.
