In a 13-year professional playing career, he appeared in parts of two seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies, primarily as a second baseman and pinch hitter. He was officially listed as standing 6 feet 1 inch (185 cm) and weighing 185 pounds (84 kg). He later managed the Phillies' double-A farm team, the Reading Phillies, for whom he also played, and was the hitting coach for the back-to-back South Atlantic League champion Lakewood BlueClaws. As of 2011, Legg is the BlueClaws' hitting coach, having been employed by the Phillies franchise since he was drafted.
