The right-hander achieved his highest ranking during the ATP Tour on February 8, 1982, when he became World Number 13. He's a six times Hungarian champion. One of the game's premier doubles artists, Balazs and partner Heinz Gunthardt surged from the pack to win the 1985 Wimbledon doubles title. Though never especially proficient on the grass prior to their magic fortnight, the duo played beautifully on the historic centre court at the All-England Club to defeat Pat Cash-John Fitzgerald in four sets. Has been the Hungarian No. 1 player since 1973. Member of the Hungarian Davis Cup team, 1973–85.
