He was the winner of the second season of The X Factor (Australia) in 2010. Childs subsequently signed with Sony Music Australia. His debut single "Somewhere in the World" was made available for download following his win on the show on 22 November 2010. The song debuted on the ARIA Singles Chart at number eight. It was followed by the release of Childs' self-titled debut album on 10 December 2010. The album peaked at number three on the ARIA Albums Chart and was certified platinum by the Australian Recording Industry Association. Childs parted ways with Sony in early 2012. Later in the year he signed with independent label Oxygen Music Group and his second album is expected to be released in 2013. The first single, "Headlines", was released on 7 December 2012.
