High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Francois Bigot was born on January 30, 1703 in Bordeaux, France to Louis-Amable Bigot and Marguerite Lombard. He served as financial commissary of Ile Royale, and as the last Intendant of New France before the British captured it in 1759. He was accused of corruption, and in 1759, Bigot returned to France, where he was arrested and thrown into the Bastille for eleven months. Upon his release, Bigot was sentenced to banishment forever. However, shortly after the judgment was made, Bigot escaped to Switzerland where he would live until his dying days.
