High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Chaunsky District (Russian: Чаунский район) is an administrative and municipal district (raion), one of the six in Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, Russia. It is located on the northern shore of the autonomous okrug and borders with Iultinsky District in the northeast, Anadyrsky District in the southeast, and Bilibinsky District in the south and west. The area of the district is 58,091.41 square kilometers (22,429.22 sq mi). Its administrative center is the town of Pevek. District's population: 5,146 (2010 Census preliminary results); 6,962 (2002 Census); 32,167 (1989 Census). Population of Pevek accounts for 80.9% of the district's population.
