As a musician, Kennedy-McCracken has been a singer-songwriter and guitarist in several bands, including indie band The Plums (1992–1995), pop-rock band Deadstar (1995–2001) and country-tinged duo The Tulips (2002–2006). Deadstar's 2000 single, "Deeper Water", which peaked at No. 28 on the ARIA Singles Chart, was co-written by Kennedy-McCracken and Barry Palmer. At the annual ARIA Music Awards Deadstar was nominated three times; an additional nomination occurred in 2005 for "Been Good" as 'Best Dance Release' – co-written by Kennedy-McCracken and Palmer – which was covered by Deepface. As a visual artist she is a painter and sculptor. She incorporates a range of methods, including drawing, painting, installation, collage, recording, performance, and sculpture using found objects.
