The forerunner of the world, the heart of all history: Europe is in the big-league when it comes to culture, philosophy, religion, the military art, economics and politics. This however is a mistake; it is precisely its shape and form, as well as its geographical location that hold the key to such a unique, intriguing and unrepeatable history when observed from above or on a globe, Europe may appear less significant than some of its neighbors: its surface area is a third of Africa, half of each of the two Americas and a quarter of Asia.
