Though not as well known or famous as his peer of the times, Mathew Brady, Forshew was just as prolific and served a very large customer base for many years. Forshew set up a retail business in Hudson, New York, which at the time was a major crossroads of several travel routes through and across the New England states along the bank's of the Hudson River. The quality of his work led to a long and productive career that spanned through many of the technology shifts taking place in the photography business as it grew through the mid-to-late 1800's.
