High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Kensico Reservoir is a reservoir, located in the towns of Mount Pleasant and North Castle, New York, that was put into service in 1915. It is about 3 miles (5 km) north of White Plains, New York, and about 15 miles (24 km) north of New York City. It was formed by the Kensico Dam impounding the Bronx River, but receives most of its water from other sources. This is because it serves mainly as a receiving reservoir for settling the waters received from the Catskill/Delaware system, which is supplied by water from the Catskill Mountains west of the Hudson River. Along with the West Branch Reservoir and Boyds Corner Reservoir, it is one of only three reservoirs within the Catskill/Delaware system that is not in the Catskill Mountains region.
