The Grizzlies were led by second-year head coach Robin Pflugrad and played their home games at Washington–Grizzly Stadium. They are a member of the Big Sky Conference. They finished the season 11–3, 7–1 in Big Sky play win a share of the conference championship with Montana State. They received the conference's automatic bid into the FCS playoffs where they defeated Central Arkansas in the second round and Northern Iowa in the quarterfinals before falling to Sam Houston State in the semifinals.
