Anzaldua and illustrated by Consuelo Mendez Castillo. Loosely based on Anzaldua's early life in South Texas, Friends from the Other Side/ Amigos del Otro Lado tells the story of a young Chicana girl, Prietita, living near the US-Mexican border who befriends and helps a young Mexican boy, Joaquin, who has recently immigrated.
