She began performing for live audiences at the age of 5. At the age of 11, Denise portrayed Selena Quintanilla in the musical production of Selena Forever (North American Tour). Denise began singing Jazz after the advice of her mentor, Herb Jeffries, Denise released her debut Jazz album, Denise, at the age of 12. At the age of 13, Denise was hired as the lead singer and character for Cirque du Soleil's production of Quidam. (North American Tour and Japan Tour).
