Initially scheduled to be produced by John Feldmann (who previously produced tracks for the band's reissue of their self-titled album), production was instead handled by frontman Caleb Shomo in his home studio, making it the band's first album to not be produced by Joey Sturgis. The album received generally mixed reviews from music critics, with some commending it as an improvement over the band's previous material, while others criticized its use of formula.
