The most famous club competing at this level is Helsingin Palloseura who won the Finnish Championship (Mestaruussarja) on 9 occasions, the last time being in 1957. They also won the Finnish Cup (Suomen Cup) in 1962. Another club with a very high pedigree is Kotkan Tyovaen Palloilijat who were participating in the Veikkausliiga as recently as 2000. KTP won the Finnish Championship on 2 occasions in 1951 and 1952 and the Finnish Cup on 4 occasions in 1958, 1961, 1967 and 1980. Finally there is Sudet who won the Finnish Championship in 1940. Other well-known clubs playing in Kolmonen include Tampereen Peli-Pojat-70, Hango Idrottsklubb and Ponnistus.
