Lonesome George (Spanish: Solitario Jorge) is a tortoise, the last known individual of the Pinta Island tortoise (Chelonoidis nigra abingdoni), which is one of eight to fifteen extant subspecies of Galapagos tortoise, all of which are native to the Galapagos Islands.
