Franklin Area School District encompasses approximately 186 square miles. It serves the residents of: Canal Township, Frenchcreek Township, Irwin Township, Mineral Township, Sandycreek Township, Victory Township, along with the boroughs of: Barkeyville, Clintonville, Polk and Utica. According to 2000 federal census data, it serves a resident population of 16,598. Per school district officials, in school year 2007-08 the Franklin Area School District provided basic educational services to 2,287 pupils through the employment of 187 teachers, 127 full-time and part-time support personnel, and 11 administrators.
