High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! In 1819, John Keats composed six odes in a short period of time that have become some of his most famous poems. They are united and ordered as a set by various critics to form a greater truth, each depending on the original order. The first five poems were written during the spring, "Ode on a Grecian Urn", "Ode on Indolence", "Ode on Melancholy", "Ode to a Nightingale", and "Ode to Psyche", and "To Autumn" was composed in autumn. Literary critics have responded positively to Keats poems with them being considered among his greatest work. "Ode on a Grecian Urn", "Ode to a Nightingale" and "To Autumn" have been singled out as being the best among the odes. As a whole, the odes represent Keats's attempt to create a new type of short lyrical poem, which influenced later generations.
