Until recently, those drawings, with the exception of one sketchbook, were thought to have been destroyed. Presented here are 150 of the most interesting selections from the 400 that Volker Skierka found hidden in the archives of a private estate. And they are by no means restricted to the renderings of "fat, naked females" and vaudeville and brothel scenes that Thomas Mann described...
