I felt before thinking: what is the common fate of mankind. I felt more than another. I do not know what I did five or six years, I know not how I learned to read, I only remember my first readings and their effect on me: this is the time where I date uninterrupted consciousness of myself. My mother had left the novels. We sat down to read after supper, my father and me. There was no question of me that first practice their reading skills through books fun, but soon the interest became so intense that we read by turns continuously, night and passions in this occupation. We could never leave until the end of volume. Sometimes my father, hearing the morning of the swallows, said shamefacedly: "Come to bed, I am more a child than you."
