Laura and her new boyfriend Nick are in the beautiful Lake District of England for a short holiday. Laura has taken Kip, a neighbour's dog, with her against Nick's wishes. When Kip gets ill Laura meets Robert, the local vet. At first Robert doesn't like either Laura or Nick. And Laura doesn't know why Robert seems to hate city people. But as the weekend goes on and she gets to know both men better, Laura realises that she has to make some difficult choices.
