The county is named for Robert Trimble. Trimble is a prohibition or dry county. It is part of the Louisville/Jefferson County, KY–IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. Trimble County is home to the Trimble County High School (TCHS), Trimble County Middle School (TCMS), Bedford Elementary School, and Milton Elementary School.
