She is similar in appearance to a character from the Anything Muppets. She is famous for writing school pageants (e.g., Sesame Street Little Theater) for her friends, mostly Ernie and Bert, Herry, Grover, and Cookie Monster. She also plays the piano during these pageants. Her favorite color is robin's-egg blue, and she has an older brother. She has appeared on Sesame Street since early in the show's history. Prairie is puppeteered and voiced by Fran Brill who also performs the more recently introduced character Zoe.
