The song was written by Pharell Williams, Amanda Ghost, Lopez and Pitbull, with production handled by The Neptunes. The song was released in anticipation of Lopez's seventh studio album Love? (2011), although the song never appeared on the album's final track listing. The song surfaced online in October 2009 and was promoted to clubs by Epic Records. It was never officially released for purchase, although a music video was directed by Jonas Akerlund and was released to promote the song along with a number of viral websites (Facebook, Myspace, Twitter and Youtube) all titled "Who Is Lola?".
