High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Mario Caldato, Jr. (also known as Mario C.) is a Brazilian record producer and studio engineer best known for his work with the Beastie Boys and Tone Loc. Born February 24, 1961 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, he and his family moved to Los Angeles in 1963. Caldato played keyboards and percussion in various bands ("Soul Stick", "Wake", "Phaze" and "Phaze II"), and started a PA rental with Mike Nishita, brother of his friend "Money" Mark Nishita. After building several of his own studios and visiting Jamaica, he produced The Jungle Bugs then later meet Matt Dike and helped produce Tone Loc's single "Cheeba Cheeba", and engineered the Beastie Boys' second album Paul's Boutique soon afterward.
