The seminar sought to create a space for exchange that would enable links between the most advanced forms of academic theory (literature, anthropology, sociology, philosophy, etc.) and the new of thinking about history and culture from a subaltern position. As an alternative ways to the dominant, official culture, this position is based on rapprochement and supportive cooperation between different levels of society. Through a study and review of popular, subaltern, urban culture it aimed to structure new ways of thinking about the interaction between civil society and the state, and thus bring the people closer to the many social demands that are emerging from the global process of homogenisation.
