The World Figure Skating Championships is an annual figure skating competition sanctioned by the International Skating Union in which elite figure skaters compete for the title of World Champion. This event is considered the most prestigious of the ISU Championships. Skaters compete in ladies' singles, men's singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The 1989 Worlds were held at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy in Paris, France from March 14 to 19th.
