John Gray (born 12 July 1888), also known as Jack Gray, was an Australian rules footballer who played with University in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Little is known about Gray's personal life, or his playing career. A defender for University, his relatively long career at the club ended after the 1913 season. Australian rules football, officially known as Australian football, also called football, footy or Aussie rules (and in some regions called-erroneously-AFL, after the Australian Football League, the only fully professional Australian rules football league) is a sport played between two teams of 22 players (18 on the field, and four interchanges) on either an Australian rules football ground, a modified cricket field or another modified sports venue.
