Doug Palmer (23 June 1930 - 23 November 1992) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Geelong in the VFL during the early 1950s. Palmer could play as both a centreman and half back flanker. He was a midfielder in Geelong's 1952 premiership side and also played in their losing Grand Final team the following season. Palmer was a good wet weather player. Australian rules football, officially known as Australian football, also called football, footy or Aussie rules (and in some regions called-erroneously-AFL, after the Australian Football League, the only fully professional Australian rules football league) is a sport played between two teams of 22 players (18 on the field, and four interchanges) on either an Australian rules football ground, a modified cricket field or another modified sports venue.
