The websites of the Mercator Research Centre, the Network of Schools, and the Mercator Network, all three hosted by the Frisian Academy, were originally developed on PloneA® a? content management systema?? (CMS) platform which had been decided to be replaced by TYPO3A® CMS. Little knowledge was found to be publicly available regarding the methodology of converting a Plone-based website to TYPO3 platform. Building up on knowledge on this matter as well as clearly documenting the process were the primary goals of the project. While the migration of the actual content is merely a mechanical data transfer task, recreating existing websitea??s template design under another CMS architecture and taxonomy can turn out to be the more challenging problem to solve. Therefore, this book also serves as a guide how to create a TYPO3 website from scratch.
