English summary: This 38th volume in the series "Ausstellungskataloge der Archaologischen Staatssammlung" covers a small but instructive collection of textiles embroidered with decorative patterns or crimson tapestries from late antique-Coptic and Byzantine-Islamic Egypt. This small collection came into the possession of the museum during the last third of the last century. As with the majority of the remaining stock of Coptic textiles, which are now kept mainly in the magazines of the public museums, the collection presented here comes from the art trade stock, i.e. from undocumented excavations of the 19th and early 20th Century. This unfortunate fact, along with the research gaps and rarity of such well-preserved finds, sufficiently illustrates our still-insufficient knowledge of those cultural phenomena that are subsumed under the term "Coptic."
