This is a story of great tenacity and professionalism concerning a small group of recruits conscripted for National Service during the Second World War. There were many like this; ordinary men, from ordinary backgrounds, tasked to do extraordinary deeds. They did not seek adventure, rather it was thrust upon them and they were not found wanting. Due to the prioritisation of the war effort in Europe, the importance of battles being conducted in the East was, to a large degree, fought in anonymity. However, Churchill labelled those forces the Never to be forgotten ArmyA" a name which stands proudly alongside the Desert RatsA" and The FewA". This is about their bloodshed and the Herculean determination to succeed against all expectations.
