Looking back over the nearly 90 years of her life, Velma Fulton Thompson reflects on events from big to small - from the Great Depression and the too-early death of her father from pneumonia, to how much she'd have given for a tin plate for the small son who liked to throw his dishes off the high chair tray when he was finished eating. The incidents of her life form a patchwork of light and dark, of humor and sadness, much like the quilts which she sewed for friends and family.
